We’re thrilled to kick off the Homer Raiders’ inaugural season on July 14th, 2026! Below you’ll find everything you need to know about the practice schedule, game dates, and gear requirements to help your player start the season strong.
🏃♂️ PRESEASON CONDITIONING – MANDATORY
All players must complete 10 hours of conditioning without pads before they're eligible to wear football gear. Once that’s done, they’ll complete another 10 hours in pads before participating in full-contact drills.
This approach ensures safety while players build stamina and learn core football skills such as:
- Proper tackling form
- Hitting technique
- Passing and receiving
- General fitness and footwork
First 10 hours = No pads / No contact
Next 10 hours = Full pads / Continued conditioning & skills
📍 PRACTICE SCHEDULE & LOCATION
Location: Homer High School Football Fields
- July 14 – August 1, 2026: Monday – Friday, 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM
- August 1 – August 21, 2026: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM
- August 21 – October 13, 2026: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM
- ⏱️ Before Labor Day: Max 2.5 hrs/day & 10 hrs/week
- ⏱️ After Labor Day: Max 2 hrs/day & 6 hrs/week
🏟 GAME SCHEDULE
- First Games: August 2–3, 2026
- Last Regular Season Games: September 27–28, 2026
- Playoffs: October 4–5, 2026
- Championship Games: October 12, 2026
Games are mostly held on Saturdays, but occasional weeknight games may occur.
We typically have 4 home games and 4 away games, with the final schedule released once Anchorage Pop Warner confirms dates.
💡 Every team plays a minimum of 8 games, and all players get a guaranteed number of plays each game through our Mandatory Play Requirements (MPR).
🎽 GEAR CHECKLIST – WHAT PARENTS NEED TO PURCHASE
The following items are not provided by the league and must be purchased by families:
- Girdle – Choose one:
- 7-Pad Integrated Girdle (includes knee pads)
- 5-Pad Girdle + separate knee pads
- Knee Pads (if using a 5-pad girdle)
- Mouth Guard with helmet strap
- Football Cleats

👕 UNIFORM FEES
$75 if ordered by June 1, 2026

📌 Uniform payment is required at the time of ordering.
🧰 EQUIPMENT RENTAL (OPTIONAL)
Rental Fee: $50 (due at time of rental or prepaid during registration)
Includes: Helmet and Shoulder Pads only.
Parents are responsible for purchasing:
- Girdle (7‑pad integrated OR 5‑pad with separate knee pads)
- Knee Pads (if using 5‑pad girdle)
- Mouth Guard (must attach to helmet)
- Cleats
💳 PAYMENT PLAN OPTION
- Payment plans are available through Sports Connect/Blue Sombrero.
- A $3.00 installment fee applies per scheduled payment.
- 📌 All balances must be paid in full by July 1, 2026.
⏰ LATE REGISTRATION
A $30 late fee will be applied to registrations completed after June 30, 2026.
🧠 CONCUSSION AWARENESS – REQUIRED
All parents, athletes, and volunteers are required to complete concussion awareness training.
This includes reviewing the CDC’s “Heads Up: Concussion in Youth Sports” program. Acknowledgement is required during registration.
